Hoppers (2026) review

Introduction 

I don’t know why, but lately animated movies just feel… different. Smarter, softer, more emotional somehow. When I started watching Hoppers, I thought it would be just another fun ride. But within a few minutes, I realized there was something more going on.

It’s one of those films that feels light on the surface, but quietly tries to say something deeper. And honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to stay with me the way it did.

Story 

So the story follows this young girl who becomes part of a strange experiment. Somehow, her mind gets connected to a robotic animal. Sounds a bit weird at first, right? I thought the same.

But then… it actually becomes kind of beautiful.

At the beginning, it feels like pure fun. She’s exploring the world in a way no human ever could—seeing, feeling, living like an animal. There’s this sense of freedom, almost like she’s discovering a new version of herself.

But slowly, things start to shift. Not in a dramatic, shocking way… more like a quiet confusion creeping in. The line between who she is and what she’s becoming starts to blur. And you can feel it.

What I liked is that the film doesn’t try too hard. It doesn’t throw big twists at you. It just lets the emotions grow naturally. By the end, it’s less about the experiment and more about connection… about understanding life beyond yourself.

Cast & Performances

Since it’s animated, everything depends on the voices—and thankfully, they got it right.

The girl at the center of the story feels real. Not perfect, not overly dramatic… just real. There are moments where her voice slightly breaks, where she sounds unsure, and those little details made me connect with her more than I expected.

The animal characters were honestly my favorite part. They bring this playful energy, sometimes funny, sometimes oddly wise. A few scenes even made me smile without realizing it.

There aren’t big celebrity voices here, at least not the kind that distract you. And I think that actually helps. You don’t hear a “star,” you hear the character. And that makes a big difference.

Direction & Cinematography

The direction feels… calm. That’s the best way I can describe it. It doesn’t rush, it doesn’t try to impress you every second. It just tells the story the way it needs to be told.

Visually though, it’s really nice to look at. The colors are bright but not overwhelming. The forests, rivers, open spaces—they all feel alive in a quiet way. There were moments where I just sat there, watching the screen, not because something big was happening, but because it felt peaceful.

I also liked how they handled the switch between human and animal perspectives. It’s subtle, but you notice it. It gives the film its own identity.

It’s not groundbreaking, sure. But it feels honest. And sometimes that’s enough.
